Canadian Education Fighting Poverty in Congo Inc.

Picture
Canadian Education Fighting Poverty in Congo Inc is an incorporated Canadian Not-For Profit Organisation based in Canada. Its mission consists of fighting poverty in Congo through the schooling of its youth. We dream of bringing quality education to Congolese youth in rural area of Nord-Ubangui, and providing literacy and numeracy to adults who did not attend school. We dream of helping kids raise "clean hands" at school, at home and in their respective communities. By doing so, mortality and water related infections will be reduced by half. Nord-Ubangui, despite its vibrant cultures and luxurious vegetation has been considered since colonial times as the less educated place in the Congo. Jean-Pierre was born and grew up in the Province of Nord-Ubangui.

Brief  History

Picture
Canadian Education Fighting Poverty in Congo Inc started as a Canadian Teacher born in the Congo wanted to go back to Congo to help re-build lives in his former country. In September 2016, Jean-Pierre is taking a year off work to head to Congo to start a pilot project and to teach preschoolers for one year. He dreams of building a Canadian Academy in Congo. The Canadian Academy in Congo will be a hub for health workshops, vocational training, primary school and a center for literacy for adults/parents who have never been to school. Fortunately, seven other Canadian teachers have joined in the adventure. This group of seven, passionate about the mission in rural Congo, meets once a month to  discuss, plan and share ideas.

Congo has been struggling for half of century to get how of the “heart of darkness”. Decades of proxy wars, estimated 7 millions of losses, thousands of internally displaced population, ranked 187/188 by United Nations Development Program, its population is covered with a 97% layer of poverty and unemployment. In addition, the Northern Congo has been also inundated with refugees coming from the deteriorating security situation due to religious based-violence (between Christians and Muslims) in the Central African Republic (CAR). This situation has put children in a terrible vulnerability. Thousands of them confined to help their parents in their small farming to feed families. We can give them a future.
